Membership Options
- Licensed members are registered nurses and licensed practical and/or licensed vocational nurses.
- Student members have matriculated into a nursing program and are not yet licensed. Individuals must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Proof of status is required annually and must include credit hours and academic institution verification.
- Lifetime members are those who have paid the full lifetime membership fee. Lifetime members of a chapter must pay annual chapter dues..
- Associate Members shall be individuals that are not licensed Registered Nurses (RN), licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses, or nursing students. Associate Members hold nursing support healthcare professional titles. Associate members support the mission and vision of the chapter and are actively engaged in the local chapter's work.
- Affiliate Members (Sponsorship and Board approval required) are not nurses. An affiliate member may be a non-nurse professional or any healthcare consumer member of the corporate community interested in working towards advancing the HVNYBNA strategic plan and goals. An affiliate member may attend general, business, and educational meetings but not vote or hold office.
Persons who meet the qualifications become active members of the Chapter and NBNA where applicable after the membership application has been reviewed and approved by the local Membership Committee and National and, if applicable local dues have been paid.
Inactive, Reinstatement
- Membership privileges shall expire on December 31st, and the member shall become inactive on March 31st. Membership months, January to December; we also accept membership of join date for dues payment.
- Members whose dues are not current after March 31st are not eligible to vote in the current election year. Membership months, January to December/Join date.
- A member who becomes inactive for nonpayment of dues may be reinstated to active status if their application is accompanied by the current year’s dues plus a late fee as determined by the local Board of Directors, if applicable.
- Inactive members shall lose voting rights and all other privileges of membership.
